Adoption of a foreign child - applying for notarisation in the register of births
If you have adopted a foreign child, you can apply to have it notarised in the birth register in Germany, provided the child has acquired German citizenship as a result of the adoption.
Important: However, you should clarify the recognition of such an adoption in Germany in advance.
The foreign birth certificate remains valid after the foreign adoption of your adopted child.

Your adopted child has acquired German citizenship through the adoption.
Procedure
You must apply for the birth of your child born abroad to be notarised at the registry office of your place of residence. You can apply for a new birth certificate there at the same time.
The registry office will enter the birth and you as the adoptive parents in the civil register.
Please note: The registry office that notarises the birth of your child born abroad will automatically inform other registry offices.
