Apply for authorisation of physicians in accordance with the Radiation Protection Ordinance to carry out medical monitoring of persons in the event of occupational exposure

    Are you a doctor and would like to carry out medical monitoring of persons with occupational exposure in accordance with the Radiation Protection Ordinance? Then you need an authorisation to do so, which you can apply for from the competent authority. Authorisation is only granted to doctors who can prove that they have the necessary specialist knowledge in radiation protection. The authorisation is personal and limited to five years. It is valid nationwide.

    Prerequisite

    • a licence to practise medicine or permission to temporarily practise the medical profession and
    • the necessary expertise in radiation protection for medical supervision in accordance with the requirements of the guideline module for the Radiation Protection Ordinance "Required Expertise in Radiation Protection for Medical Supervision"

    Procedure

    You can apply for authorisation to carry out medical monitoring of persons with occupational exposure in accordance with the Radiation Protection Ordinance electronically or in writing.

    Deadlines

    • Granting of authorisation before the start of medical monitoring of persons with occupational exposure
    • updating of the necessary expertise in radiation protection for the medical monitoring of persons with occupational exposure by authorised physicians at least every five years
    • apply for a new authorisation in good time before the 5-year period of the current authorisation expires

    Required documents

    • Certified copy of your licence to practise medicine
    • Notarised copy of the recognition of the area designation occupational medicine or the additional designation occupational medicine
    • Certificate from the authorised doctor from whom the practical experience (expertise) was acquired.
    • For all required courses, a copy of the certificate from the institution organising the course confirming that the respective course has been successfully attended.

    between EUR 400 and EUR 5,000 depending on the individual case
