Landesärztekammer - Register membership
As a doctor in Baden-Württemberg, you must register with the Baden-Württemberg Medical Association. Membership is compulsory.
The main tasks of the chamber include
- to represent the professional interests of the chamber members,
- to regulate their continuing professional development
- to promote continuing professional development and
- to monitor the fulfilment of professional duties.
Please note: If you relocate your professional activity abroad, you can remain a voluntary member of the Chamber. This also applies if you only move your place of residence abroad without working professionally.

Prerequisite
To be a member of the Landesärztekammer, you must
- be authorised or licensed as a doctor or
- have a licence to practise the medical profession and
- Practise your profession in Baden-Württemberg or, if you do not practise your profession, have your place of residence in Baden-Württemberg.
Procedure
You must register with the district medical association responsible for the location of your professional activity within one month of becoming a member. To do this, you can use the online registration form on the website of the State Medical Association: https://www.aeztekammer-bw.de/mitglied-werden
You will then receive a membership certificate. The regional medical association/competent district medical association will enter the new members in the list of members.

Required documents
- Proof of nationality, for example by passport or identity card
- Licence to practise medicine or professional permit
- Certificates of academic degrees and titles such as a doctorate or habilitation
- Certificates authorising the use of academic degrees and titles
- Certificates on the recognition of further training designations such as specialist doctor recognition.
Please note: You must submit officially certified copies of the certificates. The Chamber may require the original certificates to be submitted.
Costs

- for membership: annual fee in different amounts
- Your contribution is calculated on the basis of your income.
- The amount of the contribution is based on a certain percentage of the assessment basis, the so-called contribution factor. The contribution factor for 2025 is 0.57 per cent and is rounded down to the nearest euro. The minimum contribution is EUR 50.00.
- Voluntary members pay an annual contribution of EUR 250.00.
