The Watchman of Heidenheim walks with you through the lanes below Hellenstein Castle Hill.
He maintains law and order at night, warns citizens of threats like fire and thieves and tells interesting facts about the history of Heidenheim and the daily tasks of any watchmen.
The guided tour starts at a mine which was an air raid shelter in the Second World War. You have to walk some 60 metres to see the Medieval well shaft there. Afterwards, we walk to the viewing platform of Ottilienberg Mountain where we learn interesting facts about the first Hill Castle of the Count Palatine Manegold, about the Ottilienkapelle Chapel, about the Ox Cellars, about the former use of the well shaft for the making of short cartridges, about the Pavilion of Meebold (about 1850), about the Mansion of the pastry chef (1900) and many more ...
To make the concept of time comprehensible is the aim of the Time and Sun Path in Heidenheim.
Our guide Manfred Lohmüller explains facts about the sundial, the celestial globe, the planet path, the zodiac, the time path, the history of world views and how this project started during a guided tour of about 1,5 hours. We also visit the historic mill with its mill wheel in Schnaitheim.
