The green classroom offers interesting insights into the fascinating variety of different ecosystems and ecological interrelations and, by its 45 thematic lessons, promotes conscious awareness of our natural environment. The Brenzpark is the ideal location for action-orientated and diverse lessons outdoors:
Pupils experience plants and animals at the Brenzpark in an experience-oriented, practical way that is appropriate to the age group in question.
Education for a sustainable development
The Bavarian "Guiding principles for Environmental Education" offer methods for effective learning at school:
Mere expertise is not effective, for pupils need to understand its value for their personal life. What really matters and works is learning with your head, heart and hands to approach environmental issues successfully and to be able to combine ecological and economical questions.
Lessons at the green classroom therefore do not primarily aim at environmental expertise, but at experiencing nature as a precious commodity to be protected and preserved. Adventures with and in the nature are no simple excursions in the fresh air. On the contrary: they facilitate the development of an emotional relation to nature and the understanding that every human being is a unique part of the nature. Diverse natural experiences are necessary prerequisites for a conscious and responsible relation with nature.
