Education Centers

More than 10,000 pupils and students attend the various education centers in Heidenheim. The availability of excellent high schools, technical schools up to the university sector produce a qualified manpower potential in Heidenheim itself. Heidenheim offers:

The Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (founded in 1976) offers programs in Business (Banking, Management in Trade, Management in Industry, Business Information Systems), Engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology) and Social Work (Work with Elderly People, Residential Care and Alternatives and Social Work in Administration, Management in Non-profit Organizations). The programs alternate between theoretical courses at the university and on-the-job training with a company or organization. Graduates receive a “Diplom” which is equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree. The university has about 1,200 students.

A branch of the Württembergischen Verwaltungs- und Wirtschaftsakademie (School for Administration) is an important educational institution in Heidenheim.

The technical schools in the handicraft, commercial and domestic science area produce a qualified  manpower potential.

The local Adult Education Center offers a wide variety of different courses for adults and youth.

The University of Ulm and University of Applied Science Ulm are only approx. 30 km away.

They offer programs in Business, Mathematics, Medicine, Natural Sciences (Chemistry, Biology and Physics) as well as Engineering (Electrical Engineering, Information Technology and Energy Technology). In addition, the Science - Park Ulm has interdisciplinary research centers and institutions with excellent research facilities which are required for innovative developments and applications.

The University of Applied Sciences Aalen (about  30 km from Heidenheim) offers programs in Chemistry, Electronics, Precision Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Optoelectronics, Surface Technolgy, and Business Engineering.

Schwäbisch Gmünd has a College of Education and a University of Applied Sciences for Design with programs in Design and Media.
