Place of Town Twinning

Platz der Städtepartnerschaften

Twinned with several other cities throughout Europe, Heidenheim city has its own ‘Place of Town Twinning’, which comes into view after leaving the medieval city centre. Highlighted in the Florentine pattern are the mosaic emblems of each of the partner cities. The gates lead to the Eugen-Jaekle-Square. A row of arcades of concrete, steel and lamps surrounds this newly designed square. In the western corner stands a fountain with the so-called “Wedelbüble“. In 1929 the then Mayor Jaekle arranged to cover the “Wedel”, until then a rather unpredictable stream that when in flood would rage through the city.
